EuroVO-AIDA Technology Forums

Objectives and organisation

Technology Forums are intended to provide joint planning, sharing of best practice, dissemination of results, and technology exchange for all Euro-VO partners. They are organised every 6 months.

The two first EuroVO-AIDA Technology Forums will be held jointly with the VO-TECH project, to allow for smooth and efficient transition between the projects.

First Euro-VO Technology Forum (UEDIN/CNRS)

This meeting has been organised jointly with VO-TECH Stage Seven Planning Meeting on 17-20 March 2008 in Strasbourg, France. Most EuroVO-AIDA partners sent participants. A presentation of the EuroVO-AIDA project has been scheduled.

Second Euro-VO Technology Forum (UEDIN/AstroGrid)

This meeting has been organised jointly with VO-TECH Stage Eight Planning meeting on 29 September - 2 October 2008 in Cambridge, UK. The aim is to ensure transition between the technical activities of VO-TECH and those of EuroVO-AIDA. There will be as usual in VO-TECH meetings ample time for technical interaction, the so-called "Hack-a-Thon" sessions.

Presentations of WP6 (Evolution of VO protocols and standards) , WP7 (Data Access Protocols and Data Models), and WP8 (Assessment of emerging Technologies) have been scheduled.

Third Euro-VO Technology Forum (UEDIN/Strasbourg)

The meeting will be organised in Strasbourg Observatory on 16-18 March 2009 (and not March 16 - 19 as originally foreseen because of a strike warning on the 19th). The aim is to discuss the status of EuroVO-AIDA technical activities, the final VO-TECH activities, and to prepare the Strasbourg IVOA Interoperability meeting which will be held in Strasbourg, 25-29 May 2009.

Fourth Euro-VO Technology Forum (INAF/Trieste)

The meeting will be organised in INAF-Astronomical Observatory of Trieste on 22-24 September 2009 . The aim is to discuss the status of EuroVO-AIDA technical activities and prepare the Garching IVOA Interoperability meeting which will be held in Garching, 09-13 November 2009.

Fifth Euro-VO Technology Forum (UHEI/Heidelberg)

The meeting will be organised on March 16-18, 2010 .

The aim is to discuss the status of EuroVO-AIDA technical activities and prepare the next IVOA Interoperability meeting.
