Objectives

Provide and share expertise and material between partners useful for:

• (1) Higher educational level (university, doc and post doc students)
• (2) Teacher of the 14-18 years old students (non specialists in astronomy)
• (3) Generic taxpayer and press

Description of work

• Identify VObs tools of interest (INAF with other WP5 participants)
• Adaptation of tools, in particular the production of a lite version of Aladin (with versions in different European languages) (CNRS for the adaptation of Aladin)
• Identify the required adjustments of the VObs standards and suggest them to WP6-JRA1 (INAF with the other WP5 participants)
• Identify and list all the outreach material developed by the EuroVO-AIDA partners and encourage the translation of the most interesting ones (INAF with the other WP5 participants)

Deliverables

• D5.1 (Month 4 - May 2008, INAF with other WP5 participants): Identification of User requirement for the outreach activities:
  • List of VO Tools,
  • Identification of external outreach tools useful for this activity;
  • Assessment of coordination with HOU (Hands-On University) and other EU-funded outreach activities

• D5.2 (Month 15 - April 2009, INAF with other WP5 participants): First release of educational and outreach tools and material:
  • List of products
  • Notes on the developments of software tools driven by WP5

• D5.3 (Month 27 - April 2010, INAF with other WP5 participants): Final release of Educational and Outreach tools and material

• Italian translation for Aladin
• Simplification of Aladin interface (beta version is available on http://aladin.u-strasbg.fr)
• Added new functionalities in Stellarium
