- As discussed during the first Board meeting, the census will be organized
- per partner
- per category
- data archives/'science ready data
- Added-value databases and services
- Tools
- Software suites
- Theory
- Thematic services
- it will differentiate data centres in operation and in project
- For each data centre, the following information will be provided if possible
- Name
- Location(s)
- Laboratory/authority in charge
- Contact person
- Scientific contact
- Web page
- Services provided
- Schedule and actions:
- The Preliminary Census, due at the end of the project Kick-off Phase, has been produced from the viewgraphs presented by the partners at the first Board meeting, and has been sent to the partners for comments.
- The census of data centres from other European countries established by WP6 is continuously updated and can be found on the WP6 Web page.
- The preliminary schedule was that each partner was to produce a list with detailed information and a list of priorities by the end of November 2006, and that the list should be consolidated by the end of 2006 and discussed at the February 2007 Board meeting.
- Discussion at the February 2007 Board meeting: priorities are not easy to define and some small focussed projects may have a high priority because of their potential impact. The presentation of the census has to be improved: action on the Board, PCT and IST to examine the Census presentation and to send comments and suggestions. The Census is maintained by the Project Manager with help of the PCT, IST and Board.
- Discussion at the May 2007 PCT meeting: Mark Allen presents the IST recommendation about the census. The note outlines the role of the census from the IST perspective and provides a set of recommended questions to be posed in the census, which are reviewed by the PCT. The PCT decides that the EuroVO-DCA partners will send a questionnaire to the data centres identified in the preliminary census, in order to collect information, as recommended by the IST. A draft on-line questionnaire will be produced by the Project Manager and sent for comments by mid-June 2007.
