EuroVO-DCA, Work Package 3: Support to take-up and implementation of the VO framework

WP3 Objectives

• WP3 organizes the activities necessary to distribute knowledge of the VObs framework among European Data Centres.
• WP3-2 gathers feedback from the VObs framework implementation by data centres.

WP3 Description of work

• Motivation of data centres to implement the VObs framework and support to this implementation.
• Gathering feedback from implementation and new requirements from individual data centres specific needs, and transmission of this feedback to VO-TECH and other technological projects and to IVOA to insure global interoperability.
• This includes :
  • Two Euro-VO Data Centre Workshops
  • Visits of experienced VObs developers to national meetings or sites selected by partners

Expected results

• Diffusion of knowledge about the VObs framework among European data centres
• Creation of a forum for the discussion and sharing of good practice
• Feedback on the VObs framework and new requirements from the data centres to teams developing the VObs framework

• Month 8 First PCT meeting: 3&4 May, 2007 (Strasbourg)
• Month 10 First EuroVO-DCA Workshop (deliverable D6)
• Month 14 Mid-term Board-PCT meeting, 4&5 October 2007 ,Trieste : Assessment of Cycle 1 activities and revised project plan for Cycle 2
• Month 20 Third PCT meeting, 29 May 2008, Strasbourg: Assessment of activity of the first six months of Cycle 2, updated program for the next six months
• Month 24 Second EuroVO-DCA Workshop (deliverable D7)
• Month 26 Final Board-PCT meeting, 19&20 November 2008, Villafranca del Castillo, Madrid (Spain): Assessment of WP3 activities from deliverables D8 and D9 in preparation of the final Board meeting

WP3 Workshops

• Following the discussions at the first Board meeting on topics of common interest for several partners, and allowing WPs to organised focussed Workshops in addition to the major Workshops foreseen as project deliverables, a workshop on "Astronomical Spectroscopy and the VO" has been organised at ESAc in March 2007:
