Checking URLs of the AstroWeb Database

In order to find eventual inactive links, the URLs are extracted from the AstroWeb Database and their 'liveness' is checked by a Tcl script once a day.

The results of the check are available in the form of:

10-19 Consecutive Failures
20-59 Consecutive Failures
>=60 Consecutive Failures
URLs which may have moved

The current version of the script only checks http: URLs.

The maintenance of the AstroWeb database of astronomical resources has been discontinued on 10 July 2010; its contents is still available but represents the status of Astroweb at that date.
