Magellanic Cloud Emission-line Survey (MCELS, UM/CTIO)
MCELS is a survey of two of our nearest neighboring galaxies, the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds. Although the project just started recently, one can already see some samples of the utility as well as the beauty of emission-line imaging which will be brought to the astronomical community and the public in general. The survey is performed with the University of Michigan's Curtis Schmidt telescope, a 0.6/0.9m Schmidt located on Cerro Tololo and run by CTIO under a cooperative agreement with the University of Michigan. - Categories: survey pictures
