Status : Fast rotating main sequence star with (intermittent) emission lines, especially Halpha and Hbeta. They are enshrouded by a disk, responsible for the emission lines. Their initial mass ranges from about 3 to 20 Mo.

Spectral types : B0-9(e) with luminosity type V to II.

Variability : yes on several time scales. Corresponding types in the GCVS : BE and GCAS.

Note : Blue supergiants, Herbig Ae/Be stars, and post-AGB stars, of similar spectral types are not Be stars.
