You can now query Simbad with the TAP protocol.

By this way, you can query the whole Simbad database using an ADQL (SQL-like) request. Some examples on the web site will help you to write your own queries.

You can access it through a TAP client (i.e. TOPCAT) or through the dedicated TAP Simbad Service web page.

This service is registered in the Virtual Observatory at ivo://CDS.SIMBAD/TAP.
